Simple and Stylish in Spring Sneakers

Hello Everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about one of my favorite spring trends that I have been seeing everywhere- sneakers! I’m not just going to be talking about the latest Nikes though… I will be showing you how sneakers can add a casual yet stylish element to your outfit!

Lanvin via Instagram:

I’m in love with this entire look, but the sneakers are definitely one of the most interesting elements of the outfit. They are so girly and cute, plus the dusty pink color is absolutely gorgeous and matches the handbag perfectly in color. Even though this outfit is simple, I think that the sneakers make it a little more glam, which sounds a little strange! Since the ensemble is all black, the dusty pink elements are accentuated nicely, especially the sneakers.

A blue button-down blouse is worn with a button-down skirt, adidas sneakers, a black crossbody bag, and cat-eye sunglasses:

This outfit is a great option for girls on the go. These classic Adidas are making a comeback, and I can’t say I’m opposed! The athletic style shoes contrast the more formal outfit, but they create a really nice balance, which is the goal when working sneakers into a non-athletic outfit. What is really great about this outfit is that you still look very put together, but still comfortable.

Summer Beach Dress:

I own a pair of white converse and I can truthfully say that I don’t know where I would be without them. These sneakers go with almost anything and are very wearable during any season. Plus, they are classics, so investing in a pair is a good idea. I love the casual but chic vibe that this look gives off. Shift dresses and bucket bags are also popular options for a casual day. Now that summer is almost here and the weather is warming up, this ensemble is a perfect combination that incorporates everything you could want in an outfit.

Gal Meets Glam Travel Style - Nike sneakers:

I love how refined these gray Nikes look. Traveling in style is something that not many people think about, but it says a lot about you. As Coco Chanel said, “Everyday is a fashion show, and the world is your runway”. I pretty much live by this quote. I find it very important to look presentable no matter where you are going, but comfort is also a huge factor. These gray Nikes are very versatile, which is an important thing to look for when investing in a pair of shoes. They would be great for a gym session or running some errands, but they are great for travel outfits as well.

I never thought that sneakers could be a stylish and even girly option, but I am really excited to give this trend a try! I hope you enjoyed this week’s post!

Trend Alert: Off-The-Shoulder

Happy Friday everyone! Today I’m going to be talking about a trend that I’ve been seeing floating around lately- off the shoulder. Now that it finally feels like spring and summer is coming up, off the shoulder tops and dresses are a perfect warm weather trend to try.

 :

I prefer bright red pieces for the summer, but I couldn’t resist adding this dress to today’s post. The chambray material is light and airy, which is really nice for the warmer months I love the effortless feel this dress gives, especially for those lazy summer days when you want to keep your look sophisticated yet casual.

This floral off the shoulder maxi dress is perfect for spring and summer. The pattern is very delicate and incorporates a number of different colors in a subtle way. The slit allows for freedom when moving instead of having restriction in the skirt. The off the shoulder element adds a romantic feel to this dress, which is one of my favorite parts about it.

I love this powdered blue color for the warmer months. It’s so sweet and it’s a color I want to wear more often. This flowy top is perfect for a casual day. For the summer, it’s the perfect cover up on beach and pool days.

Summer eyelet:

This picture alone is lovely, but this white dress automatically catches my eye. I love the scalloped crochet details and the overlap on the top. White dresses are one of my favorites this season, and this one is beautiful.I love how it looks a little bit like a flower!

A sweet off the shoulder dress:

This striped fit and flare dress is definitely on my wardrobe wishlist. It’s girly and can be dressed up or down, so it is perfect for this time of the year. The sandals in this photo are really cute, but pairing this dress with a heel could be a girly way to dress up this look. Switch the messenger purse for a cute clutch and you are ready for a lovely dinner or a warm night out with friends.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Off the shoulder tops and dresses are going to be everywhere this spring and summer, so experimenting with this trend now should definitely be on your spring to-do list! Accessorizing these pieces is so easy, and there are so many different ways to wear them. Plus, they can work for two seasons! If you love an effortless and girly look, this is the trend to try!

Whimsical in White

Happy Friday! Today’s post is all about the color that is taking over this spring… White! This color can be styled so many ways and looks great if you are transitioning from winter to spring since white was popular this past winter as well. While the little black dress is what women live for in the fall and winter, little white dresses will definitely be taking over in the spring and summer! In this post, I will be giving you tips on how to incorporate the color white into your spring outfits.

That awkward time of the year when half of the week is 30 degrees and the other half is 70 degrees calls for a warm coat. The white t-shirt is a style staple for the spring, but when it is still a little chilly out, a trench or pea coat is a stylish option rather than throwing on a sweatshirt white your jeans and t-shirt. Keeping both the shirt and coat white creates a sense of uniformity and does not interfere with the color blocking of the rest of the outfit.

Tea length dresses and skirts are seen everywhere these days. This white crochet tea length dress is adorable and very feminine. The great thing about starting an outfit with a simple base or foundation is that you can build upon it any way you want. Since white is a neutral color that can go with almost anything, it is easy to build upon if you do it the right way. In the outfit above, she chose to style her white dress with gold jewelry, white sandals, and a red bag to give a pop of color that is simple, yet makes a statement. White on white is something that can be tricky to pull off, but a shoe and dress combination like this one is great if you are looking to test out this concept.

This look is definitely one of my favorites because it is a glam version of a street style look, which I love. Plus, that top is my favorite color. The white ripped skinny jeans paired with the blush top and heels create a more girly feel to an otherwise casual outfit. Color blocking works really well with white because you have a variety of options. Like I said before, the best way to style an outfit with the color white is to pick an article of clothing as your base and work from there. In this case, the white jeans were the base. This outfit is very simple, yet still stylish.

Another reason I adore white for the springtime is because of the romantic feel it can give to an outfit. This white lace dress is flowy with just enough structure and texture to it. It is delicate but intricate at the same time. White dresses are great because it leaves a lot of room to accessorize freely and frequently.

White in the springtime is great, especially because it can be incorporated into so many different styles; white can be casual, edgy, or girly and feminine. Hopefully this post will inspire you to experiment a little more with elements of white in your spring outfits.

My Favorite Spring Accessories 2016

Happy Friday! This week’s blog post is all about my favorite accessories to wear during one of my favorite times of the year. Spring is like a breath of fresh air… Literally. I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t wait to ditch my Uggs and rain boots. With that being said, here are the accessories I can’t wait to wear this season.

  1. Soludos Platform Open Toe Sandals

I just love everything about this shoe. They give off an adventure-y type of feel, which is perfect for spring break trips! The sandals have a bit of a platform, so they are very functional for short girls (aka me) who want to be comfortable and stylish. This shoe is a  great alternative to wedges since it gives a little bit of height without being too dramatic about it.Another great thing about this shoe is that it can be dressed up (my preference) or dressed down. You can view these shoes here.

2. Rebecca Minkoff ‘Mini Suki’ Crossbody Bag

Crossbody bags are extremely functional and so easy and fun to wear. This one from Rebecca Minkoff comes in many different colors, but the lilac color is my favorite. Another aspect I love about this bag is the tassel. Tassels are one of this season’s most popular trends, and I will admit, I have been a little skeptical of whether I would be able to pull this trend off. Due to the subtlety of the tassel on the bag, it is very easy try out the trend and see if you like it or not, which is one of my favorite things about the bag.

3. Goldendaze Round Cat-Eye Sunglasses

These sunglasses from Urban Outfitters have some really cool elements to them. The colored lenses and marble-looking cat-eye frames are unlike anything I’ve seen up to date, so they really intrigue me.

4. Henri Bendel Centennial Stripe Monogrammed IPhone Case

This Henri Bendel IPhone case is so adorable and makes me feel like I’m Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl! I love the monogrammed detail on it (which is optional). Stripes are also so cute and classy, which is why I love this phone case!

I hope you all have a lovely spring and enjoy the warm weather!

Last Minute Gift Guide!

We have all experienced the crunch time before a birthday or holiday where we must find the perfect gift in 2 hours or less. The easy route would be a simple gift card, which is great for those who like to shop for themselves, but sometimes the excitement of giving an actual gift is much greater than the excitement that the receiver will have when opening it. Since there is such a broad range of people to shop for, I have compiled a list of gifts suitable for every person on your list.

  1. For the Fashionista

The Little Dictionary Of Fashion

The Little Dictionary of Fashion, or other fashion-inspired books are amazing (and affordable!) gifts for those who breathe fashion. This book is written by Christian Dior, one of the most famous designers. Every fashion lover has his name in their vocabulary! This book is more inclined more toward fashion of the post-war era, but is still quite interesting.

2. The Decor Lover

Spring's Eden Candle

These adorable candles from Anthropologie the perfect gift for the decor lover on your list. Not only do they have an adorable vintage floral print, they also smell amazing!

3. The Beauty Guru

A simple lipstick set will do the trick for any girl with a love for makeup. These sets usually come with a variety of colors, so there will be a few that she will love, and maybe one or two to experiment with! This set comes with 6 different shades. Any type of makeup set, even if it is eye shadow or a contour kit, will be a perfect and quick gift.

4. The Chef

Kitchen & Dining - Keep Your Kitchen Keen Baking Set in Hedgehog

For the chef on your list, some cute kitchen utensils are probably exactly what they need. Sets of utensils like these can be found in any store that sells kitchen appliances, and they are usually under $50.

5. The Tech- Savvy

For the tech-obsessed people in your life, a cute pair of headphones are a great gift. These headphones are functional and stylish, which I personally love. A new phone case would also be a great option.

6. The Fitness Guru

For someone who enjoys working out regularly, I would recommend any gadget that  tracks progress. This FitBit Activity Tracker comes in a variety of colors, and is easy to use.

7. The Bookworm

John Green Box Set

Personally, I would love to receive any collection of books as a gift. For the bookworm in your life, a boxed set like this one would make them jump for joy! Trust me, I speak from experience.

8. The Minimalist

Ice Disc Studs

The minimalists seem as if they’re the easiest to shop for, but sometimes they can be the hardest to shop for. Your safest bet is to go with a pair of stud earrings or a really simple necklace. These rose gold studs are on my wishlist!

How To Dress up Skinny Jeans

Back to school shopping? No problem!

Every girl needs a good pair of skinny jeans. They can be dressed down or up depending on you style. I personally prefer to dress up my jeans, so today’s post is on how to dress up skinny jeans and bring a whole new life to them.

Step 1: Picking your pair

In order to dress up jeans, going with a darker wash is the best option. Dark blue, indigo, and black jeans are my personal favorite. Investing in a pair that are very good quality is not a bad idea, because they can go a long way.

Tip: When washing darker jeans, turn them inside out when you wash them in order to keep the rich color from fading.

Step 2: The Perfect Top

A flowy blouse is perfect for dressing up a pair of jeans. Try one with a print in order to make a statement. If you’re one for solid colors, go with pastels in the spring and burgundy and navies in the fall.

Step 3: The Blazer

Blazers are probably one of my favorite articles of clothing to work with. Layering one on can automatically give a more professional feel to your outfit. They come in many different styles and colors, so choose one that can contrast your top to create a good balance.

Step 4: Shoes!

Flats and boots are good options, but try heels for a fancier look. For work, pointy toed heels are great and very stylish. A pair of pumps can also be worn. Black or nude colored would be best. One part of the outfit should b the center of attention, if it is the top, tone down the colors and accessories of the rest of the outfit. Alternatively, shoes can also be the center of attention. Wear neutrals and add a pop of color by choosing a bright heel.

Step 5: Accessories

Accessories can completely make an outfit. For earrings, something simple like pearls or diamond studs would be simple and chic. If you want, go for a statement necklace. There are many options, and you don’t have to splurge on them. Even a cute cuff bracelet would be a great statement piece. Again, if you choose to go with a statement accessory, tone down the rest of the outfit. You don’t want to have too much going on at once. As for bags, I personally like clutches, but bucket bags are also great and are very in right now!

Hopefully these tips are helpful when creating a dressy outfit with a pair of skinny jeans. Creating an outfit around one article of clothing is always easier than pulling a bunch of pieces and making them work. If you like these types of posts, comment a smiley face!

Marissa
